I love Spring

I love spring. I can't wait for the flowers to bloom, birds chirping and the days to get longer.

The cherry trees are full of red juicy cherries. Unfortunately the trees are so tall I can't get to them but the birds do enjoy them.

We got our buntings and flags up for memorial day.
We keep them up until the end of July. I feel so blessed to live in America. I feel so blessed to have the freedoms we have. I feel overwhelming gratitude for those who serve and protect our country. Putting up the flags is one of my favorite things to do.

My day off

I really love making breakfast for the kids on my days off. It is so nice to be with them before they go off to school. I really try to make the time with them a little extra special since on most days I leave for work before anyone is awake. I usually don't get to be with them until the day is almost over. The kids love pancakes, eggs, and ham, so that's what I usually make. I wish so much that I could see them off to school everyday.

February pancakes. ( The bottom one really isn't as dark as it looks in the photo)

Starting the day with a little sunshine is nice on a cold winter day.

Warming up the ham.

The boys can eat a ton of eggs.
Since I can't be there every morning I still try to do something for them to let them now I am thinking of them. For the last 3 years I have packed the kids lunches every morning . I always start off the day up early and alone but I am thinking of them as I put together their lunches. I hope they realize how much they mean to me and that I love them and think of them all day long. I love making "Fun" lunches for them especially around the holidays. Well, OK ,I admit it, I like making them all the time. But Samuel is too old for that now.( Sob Sob) He likes chicken, rice, chili, you know, the "hot" packed lunches. Thank goodness Eliza still puts up with my funny lunches.
In December I made them gingerbread boy PB sandwiches, with jelly Bean popcorn.
Well I made Eliza a gingerbread boy, but Samuel needed a plan sandwich. Darn I hate that my kids are growing up so fast. At least they still like special breakfasts.

Just call it home

What does it say about your town if you only have one stop light, whenever you call the school they recognize your voice and know who you are before you introduce yourself, you still have summer concerts in the park where the local band plays and everyone brings their blanket and lawn chairs to enjoy the homegrown music, and announcements are on a blackboard on the outside of city hall?

My bug is in the shop

Silvia, my VW bug is in the shop again. For all her flaws (and she has many) I still love her. I don't know if it is because she was an anniversary gift from my husband, or because my first car was a bug and I have always loved them or it could be as simple as she is just so darn cute. But I seem to just keep putting up with all of her short comings. For the ones who are not familiar with some of the problems that have invaded Silvia ( and from what I have read on the Internet have been common problems with other bugs) Here is just some of the them she has had in the short time I have had her.
1.We have had to replace the front and back brakes
2.The doors don't latch closed so I have to use bungee cords to keep them shut even when I drive. ( this always Leads to Eliza explaining to her Friends not to be scared -"it is just one of those things about Silvia- nobody it perfect" ) The up side of this is the kids always have their seat belts on and never ask to sit in the front seat.
3.My check engine light has been off and on for about a year- others on the Internet have said this is a common problem and is a sensor malfunction.
4. Speaking of sensor lights they flash on and off at will as tough she is possessed but usually giving her some sort of fluid will solve the problem- She loves guzzling oil ,antifreeze-well any and all kinds of fluids, Shes not picky
5.We had a recall on something to do with the brake
6.She has also had work done on her transmission and now her radiator.
7. The splash guard under the car fell off
8. I know there is more but I just can't seem to think of them now- I must be in denial.
I wounder if something is wrong with me that I am so attached to a lemon? ( Sorry Silvia-It doesn't matter anyway because you are still so darn cute!
